Terms of Service

Welcome to Ficaryn (the “app” or “we”). Before using the services provided by the app (the “service”), please read these Terms of Service (these “terms”) carefully. By downloading, installing, signing in to or using the app, you acknowledge that you have read and understood these terms and agree to be bound by them.

1. The service and its scope

Ficaryn serves authors of long-form and serialized fiction with story lore, book and chapter planning, chapter writing, AI assistance, check suggestions, story notes and cross-device syncing.

The service is available to creators worldwide and supports writing in English, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.

2. Intellectual property and ownership of your work

• Your content: You hold the rights to the content you input, edit and complete to the extent provided by applicable law. Ficaryn does not acquire the copyright to this content because you use the service. Rights in AI-generated content also follow applicable law and the rules of the platforms involved.
• How your work is processed: We process book content only as needed to provide syncing, AI assistance or troubleshooting, or to meet legal obligations. When you use AI features, the relevant content is sent to the model provider; see the privacy policy for details.
• Model training: Ficaryn does not use your work to train its own models. How third-party providers process request data is governed by their applicable terms and privacy policies.
• Ficaryn’s own content: The Ficaryn software, interface, branding and documentation are protected by applicable law. They may not be imitated or infringed without authorization.

3. AI-generated content and disclaimers

• AI assistance: AI can provide lore, plans, drafts and revision suggestions; generated content may be inaccurate and does not represent the position of Ficaryn.
• Check before adopting: Before using or publishing AI-generated content, check the plot, facts, style and any parts involving the rights of others.
• Publishing publicly: You are responsible for the content you choose to publish publicly, and must comply with the publishing platform and applicable law.

4. Rules of conduct

You agree to comply with applicable laws and regulations while using the service, and must not use the app to:

1. generate or store information involving terrorism, the promotion of extremism, harm to national security, or other illegal activity;
2. generate or distribute content that infringes others’ copyright, reputation rights, likeness rights, privacy rights or trade secrets;
3. attack, disrupt or gain unauthorized access to Ficaryn’s services; or
4. exploit technical loopholes to bypass quota limits or interfere with other users’ normal use.

If we find violations, we may suspend, restrict or terminate your access to your account without prior notice.

5. Account, data safety and deletion

• Offline writing and syncing: Your book is stored on your device first. After you sign in, it can sync to the cloud over an encrypted connection; in the cloud, access is restricted to your account.
• Export and deletion: Export your book before deleting your account. In the app, choose Settings → Delete Account and confirm; your account, cloud books and on-device data will be erased and cannot be recovered.

6. Free quota and the Plus subscription

• Free quota: Signed-in users get a number of free AI-assistance uses each day, counted per chapter the steward handles. The allowance resets every day at 08:00 Beijing time (00:00 UTC); the count shown in the app is authoritative.
• Plus: Plus is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or yearly, purchased in the app through the App Store or Google Play. Prices are as shown on the purchase screen and in the store, and taxes are handled by the store under local rules.
• The Plus allowance: The daily free uses stay in place; once they are used up, you can draw on an extra allowance for each billing period (granted monthly on the yearly plan), subject to a reasonable daily cap. The extra allowance is valid only for the current period: it does not carry over to the next period, cannot be transferred, and cannot be redeemed for cash.
• Free trial: If the purchase screen offers a free trial, the subscription converts automatically to a paid one when the trial ends and is charged under the plan you chose; cancelling during the trial costs nothing. Whether a store account is eligible for a trial is up to Apple or Google.
• Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period and are charged to your store account, unless you turn off auto-renewal at least 24 hours before the current period ends.
• Cancellation: You can cancel at any time on iPhone under Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or in Google Play under Payments & subscriptions. After cancelling, Plus remains available until the end of the current period; a period that has already started is not refunded pro rata.
• Refunds: Payments are collected by Apple or Google, refund requests are handled under their policies, and we cannot issue refunds directly. Once a refund is completed, the corresponding Plus benefits end.
• Expiry and downgrade: When a subscription expires, or is cancelled or refunded, you return to the free quota; your books and data are unaffected.
• Deleting your account: Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in the store first, or the store may keep charging you.
• Changes: We may adjust the free quota, Plus benefits or prices. Changes affecting benefits you have already paid for will be announced in advance in the app or on this website; price changes are notified under the store’s rules and do not affect the current period you have already paid for.

7. Changes to these terms and contact

We may revise these terms from time to time as laws or the product evolve. Revised terms take effect once published. If you continue to use the service after a revision, you accept the revised terms.
